CREATING IMAGES ONE PIECE AT A TIME

ARTIST BACKGROUND

Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, I graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Art History. I moved to Iowa after graduation and have lived in the Quad Cities for over 25 years. I created my first PAPER MOSAIC as a college student, then lost touch with the art form for several decades. During a recent move, however, I came across my portfolio and "rediscovered" the process.

After sketching a design, I create my artwork using small pieces of hand-cut paper from magazines and catalogs. With an unlimited palette of colors to choose from, I can achieve subtle transitions that give each mosaic the overall look of a "painting." Although I love to work with a variety of subjects, my heart belongs to the simple beauty of the Midwest landscape. I believe that the grandest vistas are a product of their smallest details.

Just as a painting is created one brushstroke at a time -- my mosaics are all created one piece at a time.
